Choose the right days
Amrit Snan days bring the biggest crowds and the longest walks, often 5–10 km. For elders, a normal day in the same season gives the same holy dip with far less strain. If you must come for a snan day, arrive two days early and stay near your ghat.
On the day
- Make a safety card with photo, blood group and family numbers, and keep it in a pocket.
- Carry medicines for the whole day plus a spare dose.
- Rest every hour in shade; drink water and ORS.
- Bathe only at barricaded, guarded spots and hold a family member's hand on wet steps.
- Ask police or volunteers at help desks about wheelchair help and the shortest route.
Helplines
| Number | For |
